At 17, while still in high school, George got his break when his first photo was published in a local newspaper in 1968. That moment lit a fire in him, and he never looked back. He started working for one of Maine’s biggest daily papers while still a student, with his photos getting published all over.
Photography runs in George's veins. His mom's uncle, "Bud," was a landscape painter, which definitely rubbed off on him. Following a lengthy career in radio and television advertising, George retired and returned to his favorite hobby of capturing beautiful moments outdoors.
Nature is George’s main muse. He's got a knack for spotting patterns, lines, and colors that other folks might miss. He kicked off his photography career with film and darkroom processing and now embraces photography while using the modern-day digital darkroom.
George’s photos often make people think of paintings with their unique perspective. He finds inspiration in artists like Ansel Adams, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Edward Weston and Edward Hopper. Whether it's a stunning landscape or a candid moment, George has a way of making ordinary scenes extraordinary.
You'll find George participating in various arts and crafts events all over Southern Maine, especially during the summer and fall. His work is a hit, often described as “stunning.”
When he’s not behind the camera, George has plenty of other interests to keep him busy. But no matter what he’s up to, his main goal is to capture visual memories that connect with people. He truly believes in the power of art to enrich lives and is dedicated to making timeless, impactful photography.
