SUR CETTE OEUVRE: VIRGINIA EASTERN SHORE SHACK
The Saxis area is full of historic, fishing villages of the Delmarva, Virginia, Marland and Delaware that are fast disappearing. This peninsula town serves as an unloading spot on the Chesapeake for Virginia crabs and in the last census logged in with about 250 people. When we visited in April, it was cold and windy, no people about, no boats coming in, just strong winds and the waves that follow. This depilated, vacant, old crab shack is pictured with a picturesque old beached fishing boat in the foreground. I love the colors in this scene that could have been taken 100 years ago. To my original photograph, I added a bit of a sketch feel, muted colors and some textures to give it a more historic feel
