PLEASE NOTE: Watermarks are digital identification and will be removed when prints or items are ordered. Aurelia Ann Schanzenbacher is predominantly a self-taught artist and photographer. She describes herself as a nature/landscape photographer and a mixed media artist. Although, that defines only a portion of her body of work, since Aurelia loves immersing herself into the historical culture of the areas she photographs and paints. Aurelia enjoys traveling and most of her images come from those destinations. When looking at a subject, she looks for light, texture, shapes, and patterns that catch her eye. Anything goes in her creative post-processing. She uses textures and painterly effects if they enhance the art, photographic image and vision for the piece she is creating. In 2017, her interest expanded from photography to creating two dimensional art. Art has given Aurelia the ability to experiment in different mediums: oil paints, oil pastels, acrylics, watercolors, ink, color pencils and photographic digital artistry. While traveling, Aurelia makes a concerted effort to do quick daily drawings using mostly ink, watercolor or oil pastel. After creating art, some of her digital post-processing includes taking the drawings and enhancing colors, adding textures or transforming something less appealing into digital masterpieces. To enhance her artistry skills, Aurelia attends workshops and art classes online and offline. She continues to explore new ideas and techniques in pursuit of creating beautiful and interesting art. Aurelia has had art displayed at local galleries and online galleries . She is a member of the Maryland State Art Council, Allegany County Arts Council and Western Maryland Watercolor Society.
SUR CETTE OEUVRE: ONIONS AND GARLIC
Still life of red onions and a garlic painted in soft pastels. Soft pastel still life painting of red onion and garlic. Relatively mild and sweet, red onions are the perfect aromatic to add raw to salads and sandwiches. While their sweetness makes sliced red onions a tasty topping for your hamburger, and chopped red onions a tasty raw ingredient in salsa or stuffing, you can also cook and serve red onions as a healthy vegetable side dish. A single serving of red onions, equal to about half an onion per serving, is low in saturated fat, has no cholesterol and is a good source of fiber, vitamins C and E, potassium and folate. Prepare red onions for cooking or eating by first cutting off the top of the onion. Then, peel off the papery outer skin and, if necessary, pull away any soft underlying onion layers. Keep the sulfur compounds in red onions from making you cry by peeling onions in cold water. You can also roast red onion slices on your grill over medium-low heat. Before grilling, insert a wooden toothpick or skewer lengthwise through each slice to ensure they do not fall apart while cooking. Baste with the seasoning mix while the slices cook for about 10 minutes on each side. You can compliment the meal with a little fresh garlic for taste.
