Waiting for Peace captures a quiet moment of collective anticipation. A family stands among neighbors on a sun?washed street, each person holding flowers that glow with a warm, orange tenderness. That color becomes the emotional anchor of the piece—soft, hopeful, and gently radiant against the calm of the morning. I was drawn to the stillness before the monks arrive, the way a community can gather without spectacle, simply sharing breath and intention. The figures aren’t in motion; they’re in a kind of listening posture, offering their presence as much as their flowers. In that pause, the street feels transformed—less like a place of passage and more like a threshold. This painting isn’t about the procession itself. It’s about the moment just before it, when peace is something we prepare for with our hands, our attention, and our willingness to stand together. The family’s quiet devotion, the warmth of the petals, and the gentle hush of the crowd all hold that truth.
