SUR CETTE OEUVRE: EMERALD DOLOMITE LAKE
Traveling across the Dolomites, it is interesting to see the different weather patterns across the various mountain passes because rainfall amounts change dramatically. Even within the same areas, there are micro areas within the different weather patterns. Located between Alta Badia and Cortina d'Ampezzo valleys, just a few hundred meters from the Rifugio Passo Valparola on the upper left of the photo and the Parcheggio Museo, a bit further down the road. The ridge is located Col di Lana and the Marmolada mountains. In the Lago di Valparola area where we saw dessert conditions on the high mountain passes, the small lake water seemed diminished, surrounded by summer wildflowers and mountain passes. There appeared to be a concentration of colors as in a salt lake when we were there in late June. The museum of Forte Tre Sassi, a small jewel of a defensive fortification built by the Austro-Hungarian army at the end of the nineteenth century, now home to an important museum on the Great War is a short distance from this view.. This area is near the sites of the 2026 Olympics in Cortina!
