After studying the physics behind cameras in college, I started getting interested in photography when I started hiking. Developing my artistic skill has been a rewarding venture, and enabled me to get a number of my photographs into art galleries and curated art shows, including having one of my photographs from Patagonia selected for a print exhibition in the Louvre. As I transitioned from film to digital, I also became curious about motion pictures, and ended up making a promotional video for a TEDx conference, an experience that got me hooked on cinematography. Since then I have shot over 40 short films and two feature films. Some of those have gotten festival awards, including Best Short, Best Director, and a nomination for Best Picture. ABOUT THIS ARTWORK: LUPINES AT MOUNT RAINIER
North of Mount Rainer there is a butte called Kelly Butte that has expansive 360 views from its summit, including a view of Mount Rainier. The trailhead is remote; it's a fairly long drive on forest roads including crossing a narrow ridge barely wider than the road itself. The trail starts out along an old forest service road before heading up a steep cliff in a series of tight switchbacks, ascending nearly 1000 feet in under a half a mile, and on the way up the views open up. There is a fire lookout tower at the rocky summit, and growing in the small patches of thin soil in the harsh alpine environment are patches of small wildflowers scattered around, like this group of lupines.
