Benjamin is a visual expressionist through the medium of Fine Art Photography.
Born in Armenia and growing up in Los Angeles, California, he developed a love for the understanding of human nature and human behavior. It is his love for people that has caused him to delve into the lives of others, both in forming relationships and through the visual medium. In his studies in human behavior at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), he developed a desire to better understand and capture the essence of personhood, life and creation in all its glory. Coupled by his love for photography, he attempts to engage in the poetic expression of life and creation through the lense of Fine Art Photography.
Benjamin's photographic and visual expressionism seeks to capture the majestic design of a world that is more and more believed to be in chaos. His style can be summarized from the poetic truths of Robert Frost in “The Road Not Taken”, namely that his visual work seeks to shed off the distractions of life in order to bring clarity to the experiences that shape our lives.

ABOUT THIS ARTWORK: PLUMERIA
The older we become, the more it takes to rekindle that sense of wonder and awe that we once experienced in our younger years. This piece seeks to explore that sense of wonder and awe that creation can instill in the life of a child. It is titled, "Plumeria".
The original image was photographed on the Big Island of Hawaii near a plumeria tree that was planted and rooted on a historic site. What makes the moment fascinating, is that the plumeria tree can survive hundreds of years, and indeed this particular tree belonged on the grounds of the oldest church on the Big Island of Hawaii, the Mokuaikaua Church. The church congregation dates back to the 1820s and the church building was completed in 1837; a rich history suitable for a treasured moment that captures the priceless sense of youthful joy and amazement that can only be had from the simpler things in life.
Hence, the image explores both the simplicity and complexity of creation, and specifically the "flowers of the fields" and the profound effect they can have on human behavior. While these flowers neither toil nor labor and simply just are, they can have a tremendous effect in eliciting some of the most basic of human emotions; the very sense of wonder and fascination as depicted in the image. While the moment captured in the image depicts the picking of the the plumeria flower, the history and experiences that led to this moment, span over a decade, culminating in the event captured by the image.
The plumeria flower with its rich history of symbolic meanings such as beauty, grace, new birth and new beginnings or creation are all themes attempted to be expressed and explored in this piece. To achieve the desired result, the image is stripped of the distractions in the original photograph, in order to spotlight the beauty of the act itself.
