I was fortunate to be born and raised in the Last Best Place - Montana, where my time was spent mostly outdoors, gaining a deep appreciation for the land, animals and people. Photography has always left me with a great appreciation for its ability to freeze a moment in time. My love for photography extends back into my childhood, when I captured images with a Brownie camera. That love continues to this day, and my Nikon travels wherever I do. Photography allows me to share my love for the outdoors and the abundant beauty of God’s handiwork, as well as to provide a portal to a moment otherwise gone. Haliaeetus leucocephalus. Bald in the English name is derived from the word piebald, which refers to the white head and tail feathers that contrast with the dark body. The United States national bird, it was nearly extinct in the mid-1950s, with only 412 nesting pairs left in the lower 48 states. Intense conservation efforts resulted in its eventual removal from the endangered species list in 1995, and later removed from the threatened species list in 2007.
