Originally from Mexico City, I grew up near the ocean in Ventura County, California. After moving to the U.S. as a child, I found my passion for drawing and painting early on, focusing on bygone eras. My art is deeply inspired by the past, reflecting themes of history and nostalgia, and each piece is meticulously researched, with titles that capture their historical context. As a Latin artist, I strive to challenge stereotypes and redefine what that means. My work is representational and illustrative, connecting viewers with moments that resonate on a personal level. I aim to capture fleeting moments in time, inviting you to see your own stories reflected in my art. My figurative oil paintings aren’t just static images of a single time period—they’re a dynamic instant in time, a moment of human connection caught in mid-action and expressing a feeling or sharing in an event. Whether it’s 1700 or 1949, the people in my paintings often look right at you, inviting you into their world. I’ve been oil painting for over 40 years, and my art lets me combine my love of history with my passion for creativity. Each piece connects with something deep inside us all, reminding us of old friends, parents or family members we hold dear who are not so much something to look at as someone to interact and participate with. It really saddens me how easily we forget the past, tossing aside what seems old and worn. There’s a tendency to value only what’s new and trendy while discarding, replacing and forgetting—sometimes even discrediting—that which has become unwanted, disposable and perhaps even forgotten. But without those older times, events, ideas, inventions, fashions, buildings, vehicles, devices, activities, wars, styles, attitudes, wishes and dreams of those many people who came before, whose experiences were just as real and tangible and meaningful to them as ours are to us, none of us would be here. I aim to bring back and celebrate those moments and those people who were part of the American Dream.

He joined the fray of the Spanish American War 1898 and later when the world again descended into chaos he volunteered for duty in World War I. For this retired veteran and his family the raising of the colors holds a profound and personal significance. Together they stand before the flagpole shoulders squared and hearts steady each soul quietly bearing the weight of their legacy. In this moment of silent reverence the rippling flag seems almost to mirror the countless steadfast sacrifices made—echoing a history of loyalty that spans generations.
