ABOUT LUXGAIA fs

Lux Gaia (Latin/Greek : "Light on Earth") is the brainchild of artist, Daniel Russel. I come from an artist family in Denmark and Hungary, growing up in the mystical shores of the Canary Islands and from the age of 13, I took possession of a Canon A1 and a 50mm lens and captured my views with film. That led to developing prints in bathtubs and later I got hooked on the moving image process and working in movies. "Mum, I'm joining the circus and hitting the road .. " (at the tender age of 18) The movie world led me to an apprenticeship in Sweden, some college in Valencia, Spain and a good portion of my 20s and 30s in London dabbling with the experimental worlds of fine arts AV technology, VJing and lighting for upcoming DPs in microcosmic Laandon tawn. Great times and gypsy living.. I met my other half Marie in Stockholm in 2011 and life took on the next phase of living - family, 2 wonderful kids, US of A, and a heart opening interim in indigenous Mexico .. And so, I wish to share my story and my view of this beautiful canvas - Gaia - that we get offered in this realm of life, through my photographic work, my journeys and experiences. It is my wish to arrest the busy-ness of running around the clock and places by holding your breath and get you to dive into the beauty of the simple and mundane that's all-round us. Now is the Time and This is the Place. Images that bring back The Present.. Moment.
