ABOUT THIS ARTWORK: FALL CREEK BAPTIST CHURCH 1
Fall Creek Baptist Church, situated adjacent to Warriors Path Golf Course in Kingsport, Tennessee, traces its roots back to the initial establishment of Rocky Point Baptist Church. Initially positioned on Rocky Point Road within the vicinity of the park, the church's inception dates back to 1853 when the land for its construction was generously donated by Washington Galloway, with the official deed recorded in 1855. Reverend Peter Kuhn, migrating from Pennsylvania to East Tennessee in the late 1790s, assumed the role of the church's inaugural pastor. In 1953, owing to the damming of the river leading to the creation of Patrick Henry Lake, the church underwent relocation, finding its new home approximately a quarter-mile away on Fall Creek Road. This transition also marked a change in nomenclature, with the church being christened Fall Creek Baptist Church. Raymond Strickler generously donated the land upon which the new church edifice was erected. Today, this thriving congregation stands as a symbol of its enduring growth and unwavering dedication to serving the local community.
